SIX FOR SWIFT

“The Fate of Ophelia” ties “Anti-Hero” as Swift songs that have ruled the Hot 100 in their first six weeks each on the chart.

Swift joins just one other artist who has earned the honor twice: Mariah Carey’s “Fantasy” spent its first eight weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100 beginning in September 1995. Follow-up “One Sweet Day,” with Boyz II Men (with both songs from her album Daydream), debuted that December and ran up its first 16 weeks on the chart at No. 1 (then a record reign).

“The Fate of Ophelia” parent album The Life of a Showgirl notches a sixth week atop the Billboard 200 chart.  Swift’s concurrent command over Billboard’s premier album and song charts extends to more historic heights. Of the 16 instances of acts debuting atop the Billboard 200 and Hot 100 simultaneously, The Life of a Showgirl and “The Fate of Ophelia” mark the first combination of an artist stretching the titles’ respective reigns to their first six weeks.

POTENTIAL GRAMMY GOLD

Alex Warren’s “Ordinary,” which ruled the Hot 100 for 10 weeks starting in May, is steady at No. 3.

Olivia Dean’s “Man I Need” climbs 5-4 for a new Hot 100 high.

Leon Thomas’ “Mutt” runs 8-7 for a new Hot 100 best as it leads the multimetric Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart for a 12th week.

sombr claims his first Hot 100 top 10 as “Back to Friends” rises 11-10.

Warren, Dean, Thomas and sombr make for four Best New Artist Grammy nominees currently in the Hot 100’s top 10.  This may be a first!
