“I JUST MIGHT” REBOUND
Bruno Mars’ “I Just Might” rebounds for a third week atop the Billboard Hot 100. The song, up four spots, spent its first two weeks on the chart at No. 1 in January, having become his 10th career leader, and his first to debut at the summit.
Plus, Mars’ “Risk It All” enters the Hot 100 at No. 4, marking his 22nd top 10. Both songs are from the superstar’s Atlantic Records album The Romantic, which launches atop the Billboard 200, where it’s his second No. 1 — as Mars rules Billboard’s premier album and song charts simultaneously for the first time.
“STATESIDE” SURGES
PinkPantheress’ “Stateside,” with Zara Larsson, surges 13-7 on the Hot 100, becoming their second and first top 10, respectively. The song has won new listeners since Alysa Liu skated to it in her exhibition performance at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics Feb. 21, even emulating some of PinkPantheress’ choreography from the song’s video. Two days earlier, Liu became the women’s figure skating champion, earning the U.S. its first gold medal in the event since 2002.
The song (on PinkPantheress/300/Atlantic) was originally released by PinkPantheress solo on her album Fancy That last April; its remix with Larsson, among other acts, arrived on PinkPantheress’ Fancy Some More? project in October. She scores her second Hot 100 top 10, after “Boy’s a Liar, Pt. 2,” with Ice Spice, reached No. 3 in March 2023.
Larsson claims her first Hot 100 top 10 — 10 years and a week after she first appeared on the chart. Her debut hit, “Never Forget You,” with MNEK, arrived on the March 5, 2016, ranking and reached No. 13, her prior best rank, that June. That July, she charted again with “Lush Life” — which this January returned her to the top 40 concurrent with “Stateside”; “Lush Life” rose to No. 36 in February.

I was born a poor Black child into a family that put the “fun” in dysfunction. But through that fun, there was A LOT of music. At a very young age, my parents introduced me to everything ranging from Doo Wop to the British Invasion to Motown to Philly Soul to Psychedlic Rock to Funk.
Since I’m a Jersey boy born-n-bred, I landed a job at WHTZ (Z100) as a producer. I gave the DJs info about artists to read on-air – most of mine were chart-related, naturally.
I did double duty at WSBG, a small market radio station in the Poconos, as a DJ because I have a face for radio.
Through a random twist of fate, I wound up at BMG Distribution in Times Square. Shortly after, I ended up at Arista (shouldn’t have done that!). My career in the music industry ended with a stint at being a personal assistant to alterna-rap act PM Dawn.
