Cream Biography

Cream, known for White Room, was formed in London in 1966 with original band members Jack Bruce, Eric Clapton, and Ginger Baker. Guitarist Eric Clapton who took his first steps in the Yardbirds and John Mayall bands, bassist Jack Bruce, and drummer Ginger Baker of the Graham Bond Organization, which does well in the Blues-Rock genre, came together to form Cream.

Cream released their first studio album, Fresh Cream, in 1966. The album reached number 6 on the UK Albums Chart. The album sold over 500,000 copies. They have released 4 studio albums between 1966 and 1969.

Wheels of Fire was released on June 14th, 1968 and is their third studio album which is a mixture studio and live recordings.The album became the first platinum- selling double album by selling more than 1,000,000 copies worldwide. The album reached number three in the United Kingdom and reached number one in the United States, Canada, and Australia. The album also ranked by Rolling Stone magazine at number 205 on the list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

Between 1966 and 1969 they released 4 studio albums. The band sold more than 35,000,000 copies worldwide. Wheels of Fire, released in 1968, was their highest selling album which sold over 1,000,000 copies worldwide. Wheels of Fire is the World’s the first platinum-selling double album.

The band did not receive any awards while together. The received a Grammy Award for lifetime achievement in 2006.

They had ten albums in the Top 40, (Fresh Cream, Disreali Gears, Wheels of Fire- double, Wheels of Fire- single, Goodbye, Best of Cream, Live Cream, Live Cream vol.2, the Cream of Eric Clapton, and I Feel Free- Ultimate Cream).

Jack Bruce was the lead singer of the band Cream. Bruce was also primary songwriter of the band.
