El Dorados Biography

Eldorado is a Spanish classic hard rock band formed in Madrid in 2007. The latest members include César Sánchez, Jesús Trujillo, Andrés Duende, and Javier Planelles.

Eldorado was created in January 2007 by bassist César Sánchez and guitarist Nano Paramio. The band was inspired by 1970s classic rock bands such as Bad Company, Deep Purple, and Led Zeppelin. Following the distribution of some demo songs, the group was approached by producer Richard Chycki, who has worked with Aerosmith, Dream Theater, Gotthard, and Rush.

The debut album En Busca de Eldorado was recorded at Estudio Uno Madrid in Madrid, Spain, with drummer Alex Rada, César Sánchez, and Nano Paramio identified as the only members in the CD liner notes. Only Ignacio Vicente Torrecillas on vocals, who also played keyboards on the song En Busca De Eldorado, was mentioned as a guest. Jaume Pla played guitar on Un Mal Presentimiento, Mistreated, and Identidad, and producer Richard Chycki played tambourine on Déjame Decirte and El Final. The album had seven tracks performed in Spanish, but it also included one track sung in English, a rendition of Mistreated, originally recorded by Deep Purple on their album Burn. The group finished recording in Madrid in October 2007, and the album was produced and mixed by Richard Chycki in “Mixland” in Toronto, Canada, and mastered by Mika Jussila in Finvox Studios in Helsinki, Finland. The band released En Busca de Eldorado in May 2008 and toured Spain during the fall.

Because En Busca de Eldorado received such positive feedback, Chycki volunteered to produce the band’s second album, which was written during the band’s fall 2008 tour and recorded in June 2009 in Toronto, Canada. Nano Paramio quit the band at the end of 2009 to follow a different musical path, leaving César Sánchez as the lone original member of Eldorado. The album, titled Dorado, was released in November 2009, with the lyrics sung in Spanish. As with the first album, there was one English song, this time I Don’t Need No Doctor, a Ray Charles song from 1966, though classic rock aficionados may be more aware with the version Humble Pie (band) released in 1971.

The album was nominated for Best Hard Rock / Metal Album at the Independent Music Awards in 2009, and also got a Vox Populi award (popular vote). Its single “The House Of The 7 Smokestacks” was nominated for an Australian MusicOz Award, and the song “Atlantico” was nominated for an International Songwriting Composition Award (ISC). The band took part in the Canadian Music Week Festival.

The band recorded its third album, which would be released in two languages, in March 2012. The Spanish edition, Paranormal Radio, came out on May 20, while the English edition, Antigravity Sound Machine, came out on November 5. Unlike prior releases, the albums did not include any cover songs. In the Spanish Independent Music Awards, the album was named Best Hard Rock / Metal Album 2012. Drummer Javier Planelles quit in 2013, and was replaced by Spanish drummer Christian Giardino.

In June 2014, the band launched another crowdfunding effort with the goal of producing a new album. The latest album, like the previous two, was edited in two versions: “Karma Generator” in Spanish and “Babylonia Haze” in English. Both were released at the start of 2015.
