Shawn Corey Carter, better known by his stage name Jay-Z, is an American rapper, songwriter, record executive, businessman, and media mogul. He is widely considered to be one of the most influential hip-hop musicians of all time. He is most known as the former CEO of Def Jam Recordings, where he was instrumental in Kanye West, Rihanna, and J. Cole’s creative and financial success. He is well known for his songs “Ni**as In Paris” and “Empire State of Mind” and many more.

Jay-Z began his musical career in the late 1980s, co-founding the record company Roc-A-Fella Records in 1995 and releasing his debut studio album Reasonable Doubt in 1996.
