The Supremes Biography

The Supremes, known for You Keep Me Hangin’ On, were formed in 1959 with original band members Florence Ballard, Mary Wilson, Diana Ross, and Betty McGlown. Barbara Martin replaced McGlown in 1960. The lineup changed with Lynda Laurence, Scherrie Payne, and Susaye Greene during the mid -70s.

The Supremes released their first studio album, Meet the Supremes, in 1962. They have released 29 albums between 1962 and 1976.

Where Did Our Love Go released on August 31th, 1964 and is their second studio album. The album has charted on the Billboard for 89 weeks. It is the greatest achievement of a band of women up to that time. Where Did Our Love Go has sold 1,000,000 copies. This album is also the band’s most successful album.

Between 1962 and 1976 they have released 29 studio albums. The band has sold over 100,000,000 copies worldwide as of 2019. Where Did Our Love Go released in 1964 was their most successful album and it has sold a million copies.
