Baby, I Love Your Way – Peter Frampton | Top 40 Chart Performance, Story and Song Meaning
Chart Performance: Pop (#12); 1976
Story Behind The Song By Ed Osborne
Whereas half of Comes Alive!‘s tracks were from a Winterland concert in San Francisco, Baby, I Love Your Way was taken from a State University of New York show. Initially, Peter planned only enough material for a single disc.
Even though his previous album outsold his first three for A&M Records, Peter still feared he was on shaky ground with the label. When the head label honcho finished auditioning the one LP’s worth, he insisted that the album be expanded to include songs such as Show Me The Way and Baby, I Love Your Way.
In this case, management’s decision proved to be right on target, as both tunes became hits in their live incarnation, after having failed to chart in their earlier studio versions. Frampton’s live double LP sold over six million copies making it one of the most successful in-concert recordings of all time.

Hi. I got my first record at age two and never looked back, spending a decades-long career in radio and the music business. Even after years of reading about and listening to all types of music, I am still fascinated by it. Apart from that, I’m endlessly intrigued by art, nature, and the inner lives of people (and dogs).
