Chart Performance: Pop (#5); 1998
Story Behind The Song By Ed Osborne
After selling over 16 million copies of their debut album for Atlantic Records, Hootie & The Blowfish had some clout, and they threw it behind another native South Carolina son, Edwin McCain. With his skills as a singer and songwriter, coupled with experience gathered from a grueling 300 plus nights-per-year touring schedule, McCain was in a position to make good on “Hootie’s” endorsement. Honor Among Thieves, released in 1995, helped broaden McCain’s appeal, and his second album, Misguided Roses, delivered the goods. It took Roses a long 10 months to enter the album charts, yet, the wait was worth it when McCain’s sophomore release became a platinum seller. I’ll Be rocketed onto the singles chart at #7, spending 10 weeks in the Top 10.

Hi. I got my first record at age two and never looked back, spending a decades-long career in radio and the music business. Even after years of reading about and listening to all types of music, I am still fascinated by it. Apart from that, I’m endlessly intrigued by art, nature, and the inner lives of people (and dogs).
