I’m Not Gonna Let It Bother Me Tonight – Atlanta Rhythm Section| Top 40 Chart Performance, Story and Song Meaning

Chart Performance: Pop (#14); 1978

Story Behind The Song By Ed Osborne

After the success of A Rock And Roll Alternative and its smash single, So In To You, producer Bobby Buie and his Atlanta Rhythm Section buddies were ecstatic. Years (seven to be exact) of hard work had paid off.

With an even bigger fan base than before, the band’s concerts were sold-out affairs, especially their own outdoor events. Champagne Jam, the follow-up to A Rock And Roll Alternative, dropped in early 1978.

ARS lovers were waiting in line with their money ready, their appetites whetted by the group’s latest single, Imaginary Lover. Lover was another classic from the songwriting team of Buie, Daughtry, and Nix, as was I’m Not Gonna Let It Bother Me Tonight.

On the strength of these tracks and the album’s also-charting title song, Champagne Jam cleared the platinum sales hurtle and peaked at #7. ARS continued on until the departure of lead singer Ronnie Hammond in 1982.
