Story Behind The Song By Ed Osborne
Over the years Philadelphia’s been the starting point for many successful artists, and it was there in 1990 that Dion Allen and Shawn Rivera began their search for other singers to “go for the gold.”
A year later the two found the third key to their dreams, Kenny Terry, who was singing while he worked – in the lobby of the upscale Wyndham Hotel! A hotel was also the site for their next important break, when they did a nine song personal showcase for businesswoman, Jacqueline McQuam, in her room.
The group – named Az Yet Untitled after their genre-defying mix of styles – wowed Jacqueline who brought them to her son-in-law, none other than superstar artist/producer/executive, Babyface.
With the addition of Darryl Anthony and Marc Nelson, Az Yet set about recording their first album including their debut single Last Night, co-written by Babyface. Last Night also had a featured role in the hit comedy The Nutty Professor starring Eddie Murphey.

Hi. I got my first record at age two and never looked back, spending a decades-long career in radio and the music business. Even after years of reading about and listening to all types of music, I am still fascinated by it. Apart from that, I’m endlessly intrigued by art, nature, and the inner lives of people (and dogs).
