Chart Performance: Pop (#51); 1987
Story Behind The Song By Ed Osborne
Yello – an electronic duo from Switzerland made up of vocalist Dieter Meier and composer/ arranger Boris Blank – released the club hit Bostich in 1980 and the video for 1981’s .
Pinball Cha Cha was selected for the Museum Of Modern Art’s music video collection. Album #3, 1983’s You Gotta Say Yes To Another Excess, finally cracked the album chart at #184 and yielded three hot dance trax.
However, its follow-up, Stella, was another no-show even though it included Oh Yeah. Still, the news wasn’t all bad as Vicious Games from Stella became Yello’s fifth single to burn up the dance floor, peaking at #8.
Oh Yeah‘s appearance on the soundtrack for Ferris Bueller’s Day Off finally brought Yello out of the clubs and into the mainstream spotlight. A second movie turn in The Secret Of My Success solidified Oh Yeah‘s popularity, and boosted sales of the group’s fifth album, One Second, on which it was also included.

Hi. I got my first record at age two and never looked back, spending a decades-long career in radio and the music business. Even after years of reading about and listening to all types of music, I am still fascinated by it. Apart from that, I’m endlessly intrigued by art, nature, and the inner lives of people (and dogs).
