Story Behind The Song By Ed Osborne
For Cheryl “Coko” Gamble, Tamara “Taj” Johnson, and Leanne “Lelee” Lyons, their start on the path to fame came when they first sang together in junior high, calling themselves Female Edition after their favorite boy group. Ultimately, the girls signed on with a manager which led to a record deal. Their label hooked them up with singer/writer/producer Brian Alexander Morgan. In Brian’s song catalog was Weak, inspired by his feelings for an unavailable woman he’d known in Sacramento, which fit SWV to a tee. Released while SWV’s previous single, I’m So Into You, was still going strong, Weak joined it in the Top 10 for five weeks. Coincidentally, Weak and Right Here/Human Nature later held down the #10 and #11 spots in the same week. All told an SWV recording resided in the Top 10 for 29 straight weeks, making the trio the top group of 1993.

Hi. I got my first record at age two and never looked back, spending a decades-long career in radio and the music business. Even after years of reading about and listening to all types of music, I am still fascinated by it. Apart from that, I’m endlessly intrigued by art, nature, and the inner lives of people (and dogs).
